Home Team USA Team Europe Sponsors Format Rules

  1. There will be two semi-final matches and one final match. In the semi-final match, there will be two players per team competing against each other.
  2. The two players who have been designated by their captains to shoot first will lag. Winner gets option of which team shoots first.
  3. Teams will alternate selecting shots and challenging the other team.
  4. The first player on a team will select a shot and challenge the designated first player on the other team. After a player is challenged, it will then be that player's turn to select a shot and challenge the next player from the other team (see example below).
  5. After the first 8 shots the order of players at the table will be changed (team shooting second only) (see example below).
  6. When the opponent challenges you to a shot, each team has the option of switching players and allowing another player to answer the shot selected by your opponent. This may be done once per match. For example, if Tom Rossman selects a shot and on the European team it is Luke Szywala's turn to answer, they have the option of having Stefano Pelinga answer the shot instead. We would then look down the score card for the next time Stefano is scheduled to answer one of the USA shots, and Luke's name would replace him. This will ensure that each player answers the same number of shots.
  7. When using this 'switch' option, please note the all players must have an equal number of turns during the match. In the semi-finals, each player will answer 4 of their opponent's shots. In the finals, each player will answer 2 of thier opponent's shots. If a player has already answered the required number of shots, they are not available to be used as a substitute on any future shots in that match. Going back to the example above, if this was the final match (4-players), and Stefano had already answered 2 of the USA shots, then Stefano would not be able to shoot the shot for Luke. Instead, the European team would either have to keep Luke as the shooter, or switch for another player (who hasn't already answered twice).
  8. Players will receive two attempts per shot. A successful shot (on either attempt) will result in 1 point being awarded to that team.
  9. After all 16 shots, ties will be broken by 1 attempt at the 8-rail shot onto a $100 bill. Each team's captain will select one player to attempt this shot. The player coming closer to the center of the bill will win the match.
  10. The winning team in each semi-final match will carry a 1 point bonus into the final match.
  11. The team with the most points at the end of the final match will win the competition.
  12. Some shots have been submitted that require multiple players to execute the shot. When it is a person's challenge, if that player selects a multi-player shot, that player must participate in the shot and they may select any partner. Similarly, the player being challenged must participate in the shot and they may select any partner. Players on each team are free to decide which part of the shot each will perform.

Format Example (semi-finals)
  1. Team America selects Mike and Tom to play, with Mike shooting first.
  2. Team Europe selects Stefano and Luke to play, with Stefano shooting first.
  3. Mike and Stefano (both 'first' players) lag and Mike wins and selects to shoot first.
  4. Shot # 1: Mike shoots any shot from the American submissions and Stefano has to duplicate it.
  5. Shot # 2: Stefano shoots any shot from the European submissions and Tom has to duplicate it. At this point, Team USA decides that Mike will answer this shot instead of Tom. Tom will therefore replace Mike's next turn for answering one of the European shots (shot # 4 below).
  6. Shot # 3: Tom shoots any shot from the American submissions and Luke has to duplicate it.
  7. Shot # 4: Luke shoots any shot from the European submissions and Mike has to duplicate it. Since Mike replaced Tom in shot # 2, Tom will now replace Mike for this shot. Therefore, Tom will answer this shot.
  8. Shot # 5: Mike shoots any shot from the American submissions and Stefano has to duplicate it.
  9. Shot # 6: Stefano shoots any shot from the European submissions and Tom has to duplicate it.
  10. Shot # 7: Tom shoots any shot from the American submissions and Luke has to duplicate it.
  11. Shot # 8: Luke shoots any shot from the European submissions and Mike has to duplicate it.
  12. Now the order changes for the team who did not start the match (European Team).
  13. Shot # 9: Mike shoots any shot from the American submissions and Luke has to duplicate it.
  14. Shot # 10: Luke shoots any shot from the European submissions and Tom has to duplicate it.
  15. Shot # 11: Tom shoots any shot from the American submissions and Stefano has to duplicate it.
  16. Shot # 12: Stefano shoots any shot from the European submissions and Mike has to duplicate it.
  17. Shot # 13: Mike shoots any shot from the American submissions and Luke has to duplicate it.
  18. Shot # 14: Luke shoots any shot from the European submissions and Tom has to duplicate it.
  19. Shot # 15: Tom shoots any shot from the American submissions and Stefano has to duplicate it.
  20. Shot # 16: Stefano shoots any shot from the European submissions and Mike has to duplicate it.
  21. Whichever team has more points is the winner, and receives one bonus point going into the finals.
  22. The other semi-final will be played and the winning team will also receive one bonus point going into the finals. Assume that the European team wins both semi-finals. They will have a 2-0 lead going into the finals.
Format Example (finals)
  1. Team America selects the order Mike, Andy, Bruce, Tom.
  2. Team Europe selects the order Stefano, Luke, Nick, Bogdan.
  3. Mike and Stefano (both 'first' players) lag and Mike wins and elects to shoot first.
  4. Shot # 1: Mike shoots any shot from the American submissions and Stefano has to duplicate it.
  5. Shot # 2: Stefano shoots any shot from the European submissions and Andy has to duplicate it.
  6. Shot # 3: Andy shoots any shot from the American submissions and Luke has to duplicate it.
  7. Shot # 4: Luke shoots any shot from the European submissions and Bruce has to duplicate it.
  8. Shot # 5: Bruce shoots any shot from the American submissions and Nick has to duplicate it.
  9. Shot # 6: Nick shoots any shot from the European submissions and Tom has to duplicate it.
  10. Shot # 7: Tom shoots any shot from the American submissions and Bogdan has to duplicate it.
  11. Shot # 8: Bogdan shoots any shot from the European submissions and Mike has to duplicate it.
  12. Now the order changes for the team who did not start the match (European Team). The first player (Stefano) moves to the end of the European Team's order.
  13. Shot # 9: Mike shoots any shot from the American submissions and Luke has to duplicate it.
  14. Shot # 10: Luke shoots any shot from the European submissions and Andy has to duplicate it.
  15. Shot # 11: Andy shoots any shot from the American submissions and Nick has to duplicate it.
  16. Shot # 12: Nick shoots any shot from the European submissions and Bruce has to duplicate it. Team USA now wants Andy to switch for Bruce here. Unfortunately, Andy has already answered twice (shot 2 & 10). Therefore, Andy may not replace Bruce for this shot. Team USA now has the option of replacing Bruce with either Tom or Mike, or allowing Bruce to shot this shot. Team USA elects to have Mike replace Bruce for this shot. This means that Bruce will replace Mike on his next turn to answer.
  17. Shot # 13: Bruce shoots any shot from the American submissions and Bogdan has to duplicate it.
  18. Shot # 14: Bogdan shoots any shot from the European submissions and Tom has to duplicate it.
  19. Shot # 15: Tom shoots any shot from the American submissions and Stefano has to duplicate it.
  20. Shot # 16: Stefano shoots any shot from the European submissions and Mike has to duplicate it. Since Mike replaced Bruce for shot # 12, Bruce will now replace Mike for this shot. Therefore, Bruce answers this shot.
  21. Whichever team has more points is the winner.
